Q39: The danger in connecting the share price to the CEO compensation in demonstrated in the case of " Chainsaw AL" Dunlop. He was a crook. Nothing can equal as CEO's dedication to shareholders value if the CEO is required to own shares. An example would be Mel Karmazin the CEO of Viacom - he owns over 10 million of the company shares and he only has a nominal salary.
As to our hopes that these events will give OE some fresh management - I do not know. We have said that Schlunke is the problem - what if the problem is not Schlunke but Kelly. Schlunke is somewhat inexperienced having no other experience other than OE - what if his guiding light Kelly is the problem ? The reason I say this, the press release in Dec. about the earnings - did not appear to be the work of an inexperienced CEO - rather a person who was somewhat arrogant. It was too "avant garde" I think for Schlunke.
I do not know either of these people but the problem is among them.
As a side issue, I have no idea what they were doing on their recent trip to the USA and other places. No fund manager or analyst will give this company the time of day with their record.
