Paul, you got the first 2 scenario right. Lastly if consumer confidence is unchanged, it means the 2 rate cuts last month have put a halt on the previously deteriorating consumer confidence, and with more cuts on the way, consumers should feel better days are just around the corner. Therefore markets rally.

To summarize, the spin doctors think markets will rally regardless. <g>
