I'll take you up on that. The list won't cut and paste (this is, after all, Microsoft; why should it work the way it's supposed to?) so I have to enter it piece by piece, but here it is. I'm not putting in the file locations, except where I think it might matter; I can put in the others if that would be helpful but just lots more typing.
ScanRegistry Task Monitor System Tray LoadPowerProfile -- rundll32.exe powerprof.dll,LoadcurrentPwrScheme RealTray Cookie Pal -- (I LOVE this program. Best $15 I ever spent. But don't know why it loads at start-up since I have it set just to load when I open Netscape) NPROTECT -- This, Ithink, is Norton Norton Auto-Protect -- but what's the difference between this and NPROTECT? Norton email Protect WinAmpAgent LoadPowerProfile -- just realized it's in there twice. I assume I can uncheck one of these? SchedulingAgent NPROTECT -- yes, it's in there twice too. Identical file call, so not just a different version. Why didn't I look at this stuff a long time ago?? CSINJECT. EXE -- loads from the Norton Cleansweep directory. Hmmm -- do I really need cleansweep to be open all the time when I only load programs rarely? SymTray - Norton systemworks Norton System Doctor -- gee, Norton seems to want to load a gob of stuff! CleanSweep Smart Sweep-Internet Sweep run = C:\NECSSFW\WSWPD.EXE - I think this is part of my NEC Super Script printer. But none of my other computers load printer stuff in Startup.
Well, this has been interesting. Lots of stuff there I have no idea what is, and other stuff I have no real idea why I'm loading in startup. Will be fascinated to hear what you and others make of this mess.
And all this is trying to run in 48 meg of memory. And when I went to find out how much I had, going into Norton Utilities, I found a whole pile of other stuff loaded in my memory. Like RNAAPP.exe, and NMAIN.EXE and WS LOADER and TAPISRV.EXE and on and on all chewing up my memory.
