Glenn: Etoys is just more roadkill... the first movers did not turn out to be the winners. They turned out to be the ones who would make the mistakes and pay the ultimate price -- or I guess it was the investors who paid the price come to think of it. Having a ton of cash to burn was the worst thing that could happen to a start-up -- inevitably the cheap capital was wasted and came back to strangle the finances of these companies. They idea of spending hundreds of millions of dollars to build an "online brand" was ludicrous.
