You work for Morgan Stanley, right?

Look, all your economic return and investment blather might have made sense up until the point of Netscape's IPO and the following 4 year long orgy of wall street greed, corruption and blatant manipulation of the public masses for money.

The modern era stock pimps like Blodgett and Meeker perverted the idea of a "profitable public company" from one that made a profit through selling goods or services with decent margins, to the much more enriching and FAST method of profit- Dumping Insider Shares And Retiring A Billionaire before your company ever makes a dime through operations.

You may think this is effecient capitalism or economic theory in practice, but if you REALLY think so, you'd also have to agree that a simple chain letter where each recipient sends 5 dollars to the previous 4 names on the list would be only SLIGHTLY less productive than the "day trading nation" that the late 90's saw.

In short, it was a mania, people lost their senses, and people stole as much money from each other as they could get away with before the party ended. It won't happen again in our generation. These sort of things, like the great depression, stick in the memory of the public. At least until the grandkids get old enough to invest, that is.
