Business: Northrop Grumman unveils
design for unmanned aircraft

The Associated Press

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (February 27, 2001 6:37 a.m. EST
nandotimes.com) - Northrop Grumman Corp. has
unveiled a design for an unmanned aircraft that it plans to
fly this year to test technology for stealthy robot
warplanes.

The company believes the remote-controlled craft could
conduct surveillance missions, fire missiles and operate
from an aircraft carrier.

The company rolled out a full-scale model Monday of the
kite-shaped Pegasus, which is expected to be about 28 feet
long and 28 feet at its wingspan.

Northrop Grumman said it would complete construction of
the aircraft by summer and conduct a test flight in the fall
or winter.
