Scumbria, Re: 3. P4 might be a good machine for a few scientists who run their own compiled floating point apps. Well, that's me. We have looked for FORTRAN compilers for the P4 that would run under Windows and/or Linux but have not found one yet that will take full advantage of the hardware. Do you know of any? Last time I checked with the Portland group they did not have anything significant to show ... BTW, noticed that you graduated from Rice. That's where I teach. fp ("floating point")
