I suppose that is true- but that is only because the marriage "relationship" wasn't much, in terms of a relationship, in the past. It was an economic unit, and it was a morally sanctioned way of having sex, and children- but as for a real satisfying "relationship" between two people that loved each other and wanted to be together, marriage was less that in the past, than it is now- imo.
