Thank you. You've made my argument for me. AM radio is a "hot" medium -- in McLuhanesque terms. It feeds on the rage and biases of the right wing in this country, and owners of radio stations have recognized such, which explains why right-wing commentators are faring better than their left-wing counterparts on the airwaves. As a result, we're seeing the envelope pushed, as is evidenced by the story I posted. People who describe themselves as "liberals" and tend to vote Democratic tend not listen to much AM radio.

One positive sign, however, is the growth of black, "urban radio" in some cities.

Maybe I don't have much support on this issue. But whenever I turn on AM radio anymore, and all I hear are bashers and hate-mongers ... that concerns me.
