They did, but most of the real damage came long after the crash day. I would liken the '29 crash day to our bad week in April 2000 when Naz dumped over 20%. They arrived with similar timing and relative severity on a weekly chart basis. Our "crash" that launched the bear was rather stealthy, and spread out over a week.

It could be different this time, with a crash off much lower levels, but I don't see much argument for that in Naz. DJIA could still go that way when 10K finally yields, but I think Naz has given too much already.

The entire Japanese event unfolded without a "crash", which leads me to believe that it may be possible for us to bleed without that single-day implosion.
