The nation, whose proven oil reserves exceed one billion barrels, generated 500 million dollars in oil revenue last year, according to the report.
Its output of crude is projected to reach more than 400,000 barrels a day in the next two years.
"Under this scenario, Sudan will emerge as a new medium-scale oil exporter," the task force, which included representatives of the US government, the United Nations, Norway, non-governmental organizations and Africa scholars, concluded.
"Eventually, Sudan might provide to the United States an additional source of energy supply."
