Olney posted a link to an article by options guru Bernie Schaeffer: Message 15159999 To which I replied: Message 15160272 Well Schaeffer must have read my message<vbg>, because he has changed tune: schaeffersresearch.com Seriously, I think VIX is working just fine. It's just not a "hit-you-between-the-eyes" indicator. I plot VIX two ways: 1)a 5-day MAV of the VIX close and 2)VIX O-H-L-C with standard deviation bands (which show the volatility of a volatility index), on the same graph as the S&P 500. Schaeffer now agrees that THE BOTTOM is still out there.
