Stocks Slump, Nasdaq Ends at 2-Year Low

Tuesday February 27

By Elizabeth Lazarowitz

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Nasdaq market
plummeted on Tuesday to a new two-year low
after a big drop in consumer confidence and
home sales raised the specter of a severe
economic downturn.

``People are wondering how deep the economic downturn is and will it turn
into a recession,'' said Richard Babson, chairman of Babson-United
Investment Advisors Inc., which manages $1.8 billion."
