Yes you are... such a cynical young man...

And I completely agree. The Osprey debacle seems to be heating up and they need some good news.

Now a non-lethal weapon like this would be just the ticket for situations like Somalia

It sounds like it's that acoustic weapon I've heard the DOD has been working on. It uses a specially timed injection of combustible fuel in a chamber that then directs the concussive force like an audio speaker in a specific direction.

And lookee here... It appears this weapon is so secret that they've set up a number of web sites into distracting us from the weapon they are actually producing... :0)

iis.marcorsyscom.usmc.mil

geocities.com

brad.ac.uk

And guess what, even "Human Rights Watch" knows about it (back in 1999 even... :0):

hrw.org

And even some academics/lawyers in Australia know:

murdoch.edu.au

SOME SECRET!!!!!

And btw, this acoustic weapon had the following effects:

ACOUSTIC ENERGY PROPERTIES

Infrasonic:

Target effects
-- Mild to severe discomfort
-- Organ functional disturbance
-- Organ disruption

Propagation characteristics
-- Ground or structure penetration
-- Long-range propagation
-- Nondirectional

Sonic: 20 Hz to 20 kHz

Target effects
-- Hearing interference
-- Performance degradation
-- Pain
-- Hearing loss
-- Tissue damage

Propagation characteristics
-- Moderate propagation
-- Moderately directional

Ultrasonic: 20 kHz

Target effects
-- Possible diffuse psychological effects
-- Pain
-- Surface tissue damage
-- Tissue destruction

Propagation characteristics
-- Limited propagation
-- Highly directional
