Even though it has been a rough and steep road down for the bulls, maybe there is a little sunshine out there.

I was looking at Att. They've been doing what many others still need to do and that means they're way ahead of the game. Today's sale of MSOs was a very positive development. They can use the cash just when they need it and when its application will give the best leverage with low risk.

I also like the possibility of Armstrong becoming head of the broadband unit. He learned quite a lot from his previous zealousness and isn't likely to repeat the same mistakes. The broadband unit is the leverage point for the entire enterprise. With Armstrong in charge making good calls, it could make the entire company a big winner as it moves towards the promises of the past.

The only problem child is ATHM. It's being subjected to an intense whipping which it more than deserves. If ATHM can get rid of all the dross they accumulated and concentrate on what they do well, then the outlook will be good. This would add quite a lot to Att's media orientation.

The stock was bucking the trend today. Maybe that says more than just a change in expectations for Att. Maybe we're due for some rally once tomorrow's crunch is swallowed. Maybe Att will lead the way out of the hole. And maybe the stock market gods will look kindly at Wayne's Rally.
