Thanks for sharing your back up system. Interesting to read that you could store more than one image in a partition. I was under the impression that backing up as an image file requires a complete partition. Looks like the imaging software creates a folder for each image. What is the software you're using for imaging a drive? Can it also be used to clone a new drive?
