Just caught up with this. Thanks for posting it and for your comments.

Given the hits taken by some of the pension funds' (generically speaking) favourite stocks and given the additional declines that are apparent on the horizon, the days of booking pension fund surpluses are at an end and in fact could transpose to a need for added contributions.
