Keith, I will respond to your post in the spirit that you appear to have posted it First, I do not revel in the misery of others; I don't think FredE does either. My issue with the G&K thread is that they had this arrogant attitude which literally drove away people who did not toe the line. You do not need to go back very far to see this. Take a look at FredE's post regarding QCOM - a stock that I own - where he raised some legitimate issues but they would not give him the time of day. Well, he was proven right and QCOM dropped from the 80s to the 50s before you could blink an eye. I read that thread regularly and the information that they post on stocks is excellent but some of these guys actually believed that somehow G&K stocks could weather the storm irrespective of market environment. There is a fine line between keeping a thread focused and inhibiting discussion to a point where contrary view points are extinguished in short order. I view the G&K thread as the equivalent of cyber-inbreeding - a number of well intentioned people who put in a lot of effort to help each other but welcome opinions only to the extent that it does not go against the mainstream opinion. My statement that I was confident that the gorilla gamers would have their comeuppance and just desserts is alleged to suggest that I wished them ill. This was not a particularly profound observation on my part - one had a grossly over-valued market and the stocks were over-valued by any conventional measure. The ONLY outcome would have to be that at some point they would come down and if the market/economic environment were hostile they would come down hard. My issue with UF (and by extension Tekboy) began with the former being an outright hypocrite about Poet and Voltaire. I don't want to rehash history regarding that episode. I had more or less decided to let that slide when I got back from vacation and then found that he had done it again. This time it was about Poet and others who were seeking to destroy her reputation and her relationship with her husband. For me this was even more egregious than even the Voltaire episode. I can understand someone who was not involved in this sorry mess deciding to not get involved but for UF to actually castigate Poet even as he did not say a peep about the conduct of the perpetrators was nothing short of inexcusable. UF is a good thread leader - but his knowledge of investing leaves much to be desired. I have read just about every post from the inception of the GK thread and there were times that UF has posted investment comments/advice that was just unadulterated nonsense - similar to his comment about QQQ being the same as a money market fund. I refrained from ever citing any of this until he chose to do his number on Poet. What is interesting about the group dynamics on that thread between the regulars is that one rarely finds anyone challenging the other on any substantive issues. Tekboy, as I said, is guilty by extension - but basically, he is a charlatan - and I don't mean to be uncharitable when I say this. He may be a genius at foreign policy but he is typical of the kind of person who gets fully invested using margin and options just as the market tops out. The entry of people like him usually signals that the bull market is nearing an end and it is this type of individual who will bail at the bottom. I never posted to him until he chose to attack me on Voltaire's thread. I wish you well
