whiskey & Philli re land status:
If the land is crown land, one does not own the surface rights until the property is brought to lease. In the Victor area it is +99% crown land so CNB could not stop Debeers from crossing their land even if they wanted to.

In the immediate Wawa area there is crown land and the former ACR (Algoma Central Railway) land in about a 60/40 ratio. The ACR land used to have about a 7% royalty plus progressive yearly payments. To my knowlege, ACR sold off a lot of their land to small forestry companies. There are guys on the SH board from Wawa who could probably elaborate further.
