Mr. Toby Chu reports
CIBT Reports Recent Developments of International Bachelor Degree Program
Capital Alliance and its subsidiary, CIBT Canadian Institute of Business &
Technology Corporation, have released recent developments relating to
CIBT's new international bachelor degree program. A total of 110 full-time
students has now enrolled in this new program, with the first group of
students starting classes in September, 2000.
"We are very encouraged by the considerable amount of interest this
innovative new program has generated in such a short period of time," said
Charles Chen, president of CIBT China. "With the interest to date, in
addition to our expansion plans, we anticipate that the program's
popularity and enrolment will grow significantly over the next several
years."
CIBT's new international bachelor degree program consists of two major
areas of study -- business administration and computer science. This
program requires that students complete the first half of their course work
with CIBT and the Computer Institute of Beijing Polytechnic University in
Beijing, China. The Beijing stage of the program runs two to three years.
Over the final two years of the program, students will study abroad with
CIBT's foreign partners. CIBT has now partnered with five foreign
universities to jointly offer this program including: Royal Roads
University (Victoria, B.C.), La Trobe University (Melbourne, Australia),
Assumption University (Bangkok, Thailand), University of Portsmouth
(Portsmouth, United Kingdom) and the Schiller International University --
the American College of Switzerland (Leysin, Switzerland). CIBT is
currently in negotiations with several foreign universities that when
finalized, will significantly enhance the value of the international
component of the program.
About CIBT
Established in 1995, CIBT is now one of the largest foreign-owned business
