(PR NEWSWIRE) Arete Industries, Inc. Issues Update of Its Business Developmen Arete Industries, Inc. Issues Update of Its Business Development Clients BOULDER, Colo., Feb. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Arete Industries, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: AREE) by directors Thomas Raabe (CEO) and Thomas Gorman (COO/CFO) issued an update to investors and shareholders about its Business Development Clients. (Photo: newscom.com ) Since embarking on the incubator business model on May 2, 2000 with Lawrence Mortimer (Sales and Marketing) and Michael Parsons (CTO), we have improved the business model, refined our ability to create value in an enterprise and are working with several exciting young companies and new opportunities. We are currently housing six clients, two of which we are principally financing. We are also working to add a seventh client in the near future. Our incubator business model creates wealth for our shareholders by generating return on equity similar to that of venture capital. In addition, our business model creates revenue to profitably cover operating expenses for the four principals and our small staff by housing the young companies and providing a valuable operating resources (accounting, IT, engineering, operations) that can match their growing and changing needs. The following is a brief description of the six clients and the new prospect: Seventh Generation Technologies, Inc. (High Tech) Led by Dr. William Hutchison and Dr. Kenneth Stephens, 7GT is developing an operating system for robots that will enable a robot to control its own behavior, be programmed by voice commands and to adapt to its tasks and experiences. 7GT will soon release a prototype of the new software. Big Sis (Telecommunications) Currently led by Tom Gorman, Big Sis is developing voice recognition software to be sold as an add-on to existing voice recognition applications that will increase accuracy and expand available vocabularies. This is a spin-off of 7GT. Big Sis has created a demo of the software, is in the process of contracting an outside firm to have it developed and is actively engaged in an executive search to find a champion to lead this company. Arete Outdoors, Inc. (Specialty Distribution) After successfully developing the SnowFang snowshoe, the Powder Rush snowbike and a state of the art website, Arete Outdoors is shifting its focus to fully leverage its experienced management team of Mike Lowe and Kim Huffman. The new focus will be the distribution of high-end specialty alpine and ski equipment and accessories (Helmet, poles, gloves, glasses, etc) on an exclusive basis from reputable overseas manufacturers. The company will also include the SnowFang snowshoe and other future products designed by Mike Lowe. Rush (Specialty Manufacturing) Currently led by Michael Parsons, the launch of the Powder Rush in December requires the development of separate distribution channels than that of Arete Outdoors. With the Rush, we have focused its development on a marketing template for ski resorts to successfully leverage the rush experience into a compelling attraction. In conjunction with Copper Mountain Resort (Summit County, Colorado), we are developing a model that can be rolled out to the rest of the ski areas. Adventure Travel (Internet Service) This is a pure Internet play. It is led by Marion Emmons. It is in the exotic adventure niche of the travel industry. It has a very low overhead, and the potential for good cash flow. It has also evolved into a separate business from Arete Outdoors. Michelangelo (Media) It is a developing entrepreneurial opportunity being led by Lawrence Mortimer. It is focused on full motion video and other interactive displays in retail environments. However, it is not a technology play. It is a marketing and sales opportunity that will tie together and coordinate for the retailer the different technology partners operating in the store. Mr. Mortimer has had several successful meetings with retailers and expects a launch in two or three months. New Prospect: Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) In a project led by Tom Raabe, we are working with entrepreneurs with an established commercial construction firm who want to become a leader in the ICF industry, an emerging growth market in the construction industry. Primarily used in commercial construction, ICFs shorten the construction time, cost less to use by significantly saving concrete and labor, and have a higher insulation value than other means of construction. In the coming weeks and months, our clients will be announcing significant achievements in their respective development. In the coming years, we believe that these achievements will create wealth for all of our shareholders. Thank you for your continuing interest and support of Arete Industries, Inc.
