Greenspan and Bush need to talk - soon. Another few months of this, the jobless numbers will rise significantly, the NYSE will feel it, and guess what will happen to tax revenues and the projected surplus. By summer Congress will look carefully at those projections. Now is the time for Bush to jawbone despite what he has said publicly after he last violated his own rule. The jawboning might include a suggestion that Greenspan consider resigning. Bush needs to be Presidential and perhaps he can even grab the limelight from Bubba whose denial that the Clinton economy was tanking stalled any early measures which could have been taken. We'll see. John
