Jambo,

I just read what you had written earlier today and I want to thank you for what you've said.

You and I cyber-met after I had been roundly castigated for a post I made on November 13, 2000 on the moderated Voltaire's Porch, saying that I believed we were in a bear market and that, as an options trader, I would not recommend that the thread members continue to buy out of the money calls (I believe that Jan and Apr were being bought) on high flyers like EXTR, JDSU, and ELON.

At that point, I started to post on the old Voltaire's Porch, now fancifully renamed by UF "The Critical Investing thread". I was angry that my post had been met with such criticism, angry that the thread continued to deride an SI member who they had long ago moderated from their thread. I was mortified that people were continuing to buy these stocks based on the posts of Voltaire, who told them him angels were guiding his entreaties, and that his angels would protect him (and by inference, anyone who followed him).

I understand that UF and Voltaire are friends, but I will never understand why UF has supported this kind of behavior. Frank's myopic focus on his interpretation of the confidentiality section of the TOU in the face of the threat and innuendo that my husband and I faced has helped me understand why he remains so focused on the strategy written in a book a few years ago, when the stock market was a very diferent place. I take no delight in the losses of those who listen to angels or embrace "gorillas"through thick and thin, but I will no longer keep my mouth shut while their losses mount.

Fred, you've done a good thing in starting this thread. I wish you well and will contribute when I can.
