I disagree Nadine, the difference is that Bush's proposals involve the private sector and are linked toward realistic goals.
He isn't about to try and push a socialized medical system down our throats the way Bill and Hillary tried to do. And he isn't about to pay for prescription drugs for Ted Kennedy, or Warren Buffet, both of whom would have been eligible under Gore's "everyone over 65" massive government entitlement program.
Bush has taken the right road. One which balances the involvement of government, without destroying the capitalistic forces which continue to be the envy of the world. He has also boldly taken on social security, and described the real choices we have as a nation if structural reform is not undertaken.
In other words, a very strange thing is happening in Washington these days, with this new administration. Bush and his team are doing EXACTLY what they said they were going to do if elected.
They didn't need to lie the way Clinton did and claim "I'm for a middle class tax cut" during the election season. Then pass a huge tax increase after elected. They also didn't need to claim "we will be the most ethical administration in history". The way the phony Clinton's did.
They don't need to say it, because people like Colin Powell, and Dick Cheney, are leading a team of principled centered individuals. Who aren't about to sell their soul for the next good sound-bite, or high focus group score.
There is a big, big difference Nadine, and one day, if you're open minded enough, you may recognize the difference. |
