The Andy Statman/Sam Bush show was good but a little disappointing.
Andy's Band was good but they didn't rehearse so they weren't very tight
but they certainly had their moments. Andy's and Tony Trischka's solos
were outstanding. The Sam Bush Band has a drummer and the bass player
plays electric sometimes, I'd rather see him play real bluegrass but
he was still good. The encore with Tony Trischka was the best tune.
Sam's guitarist Jon Randall is very good. On the one R&R song they
did he made his acoustic Gibson sounded just like an electric. I didn't
like the tune but it was a cool effect.
I listened to an awesome Old and In The Way Reunion show from the
Ryman in 1997 on the my way home, great stuff! Del McCoury joined
them and sang Dark Hollow. Apparently Del sang it when he was one
of Bill Monroe's Bluegrass Boys. Vasser was also a Bluegrass Boy
in the late 1940's, talk about a pedigree!
