Mouses can be likened to most consumer products.Pay more and you get better quality and more options or features. It also depends on the manufacturer. Your Gateway is a basic 10.00 dollar mouse and the Logitech sounds like perhaps their 15-20 mouse depending if it has a wheel.

Because I am familiar with Logitech mouses(have 3) I know they are feature heavy even in the lower grades.

The more you use mouses the more you will know what features you like and dislike and that experience will be your guide the next time you buy a computer that offers mouses or purchase a mouse independently.

When I decided to go optical in mouses I went through 2 Microsoft and 2 Logitechs before I settled on my present one,a Logitech Mouseman Optical Wheel.

Bottom line, it ain't easy picking a mouse :)
