It seemed very planned to me. Maybe he had been so clever to do a market research on the involved companies - then he would have found out, that several of the involved companies have Linux expertise.

I prefer IBM's policy of not criticising the competition - unless very specific reasons make it necessary. Nobody criticised MSFT at that meeting, only the lack of certain necessary features in some MSFT products.

I would suspect that MSFT has done some internal "anti-Linux" education (I would!), and that this was only a guy that told the outside world what he was told in the inside world. It just didn't fit the subject or the agenda.
