Re: North American Broadband Stats - CM and DSL

transmission- Thanks for posting the NA broadband stats. For comparison sake here's the last CM/DSL stat I posted in Dec 2000. The stats below are from Q300 figures.

Message 14948925

"But overall, the total broadband picture is bright, and brightening. Put together, the top cable and DSL providers could rack up 4.6 million total residential data customers by the end of this year[2000]-roughly a 133 percent increase over 1999 totals. By the end of next year, the top providers on both sides could tag 8.1 million residential data customers. That's 8 percent of the 100 million households in the United States-not bad, for an industry that really only hit its stride this year."

Of course your stats are for North America. Mine were for USA only. But all in all, Q400 was not nearly as dire as one would think with all the doom and gloom in DSL and CM land. The forecast for year end USA was 4.6 million. And your reports shows 7.8 million for NA! Quite a boost from what was expected at Q300. And I know Canada cannot make up the difference in the figures alone. Obviously more CM and DSL customers were signed up than forecasted by my reference.

What will be of greatest interest is Q101. I'm eagerly awaiting those figures. -MikeM(From Florida)
