PETE, Is there a FASB change in process affecting M&A's?

I heard a business analyst on the radio last night talking about a potential "rally" in the Merger & Acquisition area.

He talked about a FASB change coming 1 July 2001 which will encourage M&A activity.

He felt that between that pending accounting change, and the depressed stock prices of a number of Tech stocks, the stage is set for-a-flurry of M&A activity.

What say you?

Does any of that make sense?

Thanks,

Wally M.
