Samsung Leads At ServerWorks

Samsung leads with more DDR SDRAM DIMMs validated than the rest of the industry combined
Samsung leads seven to three in the number of DDR SDRAM DIMMs validated
Samsung leads as the only supplier with a one gigabyte module validated
SAN JOSE, Calif., February 20, 2001 – According to data just released by ServerWorks Corporation, the world's leading independent supplier of high-performance core logic for Intel-based servers and workstations, Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. leads the industry. The data shows that Samsung has as many fully validated DDR SDRAM DIMM modules available as all the rest of the industry combined and Samsung leads by a ratio of seven to three over the next nearest competitor. Samsung also leads by being the only supplier in the world to have a one-gigabyte module validated. In total, Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. has seven fully validated modules available at the PC1600 speed rating tested. According to the Serverworks data, four additional manufacturers have a total of seven modules available between them and none have a one-gigabyte module validated. All the Samsung DDR SDRAM DIMM memory modules have been validated for use with ServerWorks DDR chipsets.

"DDR is firmly established in the server market due to its performance and price. Samsung is firmly established as the supplier of choice due to the company's performance in offering the range of DDR solutions that the industry needs at the right price," said Mian Quddus, Samsung's Director of Solution Enabling. "All Samsung fully validated DDR DIMM modules are in full production and are shipping right now."

All Samsung DDR SDRAM DIMM modules validated by ServerWorks Corporation are available in PC1600 speed rating and all modules are in full production and all are currently shipping. Samsung has an on-going program of continuous technology improvement and is currently developing both faster and denser modules to meet its customer's projected system requirements. These modules will be validated as they become available.

"Being the world's number one supplier in all memory market segments is key to Samsung's global memory strategy and Samsung intends to be number one in DDR DIMM just as we are in SDRAM DIMM or RAMBUS RIMMâ," said Dieter Mackowiak, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. "Samsung will achieve success in the high-speed memory market segment through our time-tested strategy of offering our customers their choice of memory technologies."
