Taiwan's SIS says sales soar in Feb
Jump to first matched term
TAIPEI, March 1 (Reuters) - Taiwan microchip maker Silicon Integrated Systems (SIS) said on Thursday the company's initial estimates put February sales at T$856 million, a 70 percent jump from the previous month.

February's sales figures also showed a 144 percent rise from the same month in 2000, SIS said in a statement to the Taiwan Stock Exchange.

The statement said the rise was due to shipments of new products, including chipsets which help Intel's new Tualatin and Pentium III processors that communicate with the rest of the computer system.

SIS's gains come even though most analysts and microchip executives expect a semiconductor industry downturn to last throughout the first quarter and bottom out before the second half of the year.
