FREMONT, Calif., Mar 1, 2001 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- SSE Telecom, Inc.
(Nasdaq: SSET) a leading provider of broadband satellite products, today
announced that it has installed its iP3 Gateways at China Telecommunications
Broadcast Satellite Corp. (CHINASAT) in Beijing. The SSET iP3 Gateways will
feature high speed, two-way communication over the CHINASAT network via internet
protocol (IP) packets. This system will demonstrate simultaneous Voice (VoIP),
Video, email, and large file transfer (TCP/IP) traffic at speeds up to 15Mbps.

Mr. Dazhong Wang, Vice General Manager of Telecommunications Development
Division of CHINASAT, said, "I am impressed with the utility of the iP3 browser
interface, which allows easy configuration over the net from our Headquarters.
CHINASAT selected the iP3 due to its ability to carry mixed-traffic at such high
rates and the simplicity of just adding a modem card to each box when another
site is brought on-line. Another reason is that iP3 has internal integrated
routing functions and LAN ports for easier connection to customer's networks. We
like the compact, one-box solution of iP3 that takes the place of a rack full of
modems and satcom equipment. "

Mr. Daryl Mossman, SSET's Executive Vice President Marketing and Sales, stated,
"We are very honored to be chosen by CHINASAT, a world class telecommunications
service provider, to demonstrate the iP3 system over their satellite system.
SSET will work with CHINASAT in demonstrating the iP3 system 'live' to its
customers seeking high bandwidth service in China. High-speed fiber is landing
at China's coast and major cities, and we see a great opportunity to connect to
these gateways via iP3 and provide high bandwidth anywhere in China that the
satellite beams cover. The beauty of satellite communication with iP3 is that it
can be deployed in hours to areas that have no broadband infrastructure and
offers data traffic, video streaming and video conferencing plus phone calls
over the same system."
