no. your comments related to consumer confidence and the election, and who won the election. my point was the economic downturn, as well as the market downturn started WAY in advance of the election. it began with the FIRST rate hike from Greenspan. consumer confidence lags rate hikes by typically around 6-9 months. gee. go figure.... add to that the large increase in energy prices and voila...you have the recipe for a slowdown. the NAPM is typically a very good indicator of what businesses are thinking about the economy. in my opinion, one of the better leading indicators. of course, the addage of "don't fight the fed" usually is correct.

oh, and i didn't mention YOUR taxes. i didn't mention the $ amount i was paying, either. i merely mentioned how ridiculous my tax rates are. but, hey, if you rob peter to pay paul, paul will vote for you every time! now, what i'd really like to do is take a look at the list of THREE THOUSAND spending items Mr. Clinton pushed prior to leaving office.... nothing like spending someone else's money....
