Combjelly RE..<< Lots. It makes it more difficult to make long term plans, businesses in particular like to have a predictable tax environment. <<<

Almost all of the time taxes are considered is when you are trying to get out of them, and specifically how the tax braks can justify a purchase; which is a poor reason for making a purchase. That is the primary reason for the savings and loan debacles. Too many people were building and buying properties based on the tax breaks, rather than the profits. As far as payroll taxes, they are changed automatically, by the software, people. Quicken for instance has a internet site which updates you automatically. So, I would prefer the lower taxes.

Good for him. Now if he were a prison guard and looking at getting any potential of raises frozen until this tax mess is sorted out, he might be singing a different tune

Get real. Most state employees work for the unions; and they operate on multi year contracts. In fact, about the only thing that keeps wages in line, is budget constraints.

You might be surprised. Corruption is a lot easier on the state and local level than it is on the federal. Usually less controls and smaller amounts of money are needed. <<<

The amount of corruption we have here locally is mininal, compared to the soft money sleeze going on in Wash. Ill. is a fairly corrupt state, in that it takes bribes to inspectors to get things done there, but I haven't seen any of that here.
