>given these market conditions was a little irresponsible....<
I wish that I could have a "do over" (When Harry Met Sally, movie line<g>).....and if I could I would have sold everything that I owned in March, and would be buying back when I felt that we were seeing the bottom of the market. Unfortunately, I didn't have a "crystal ball"....so I wasn't able to perfectly time the market.
IMO there is a significant place in the market for AKAM, SCMR, ONIS....but where, and how do you place a "value" to these companies? Unfortunately, growth stocks have gone "out of favor", and are targeted for shorting. If you bought and held AKAM at any price, in 5 years would this be a good investment....who knows?!? AKAM since it is an "unknown" would be a stock that I would put in the "high risk, but high possible reward" category.
You have obviously done very well in the past....and from your posts, you have diversified your holdings. I'm sure that some of the wealth you gained can be attributed to some of the discussions you've had with various people who post on SI, and these discussions helped you make the decisions to invest in certain areas. There are a few people who do "push" their positions.....but it is an individual decision as to what choices you decide to make, and where you decide to invest. As I posted several months ago, IMO there is no investment that is a "sure thing"......and any investment that you make will involve some risk. As you have often mentioned, being diversified is important, and provides the best "safety" for retaining your wealth.
Too many people IMO equate their self worth with their net worth....and in doing so, they loose site of "the big picture". All of us like to feel we're doing well investing.....but I guarantee that most of us have on paper a much smaller "net worth" than we had two years ago. However.....the point of my post, was that there are some things that money can't buy....and don't loose site of the "big picture". "We all live under the same sky, but we don't all have the same horizon." (Konrad Adenauer - quote). We need to decide on our own personal horizon, taking into account all of the factors that I mentioned....and hopefully this will help all of us to be successful not only in investing, but in life. |
