RESEARCH ALERT - Target seen topping Q4 consensus
CHICAGO, March 1 (Reuters) - Target Corp. (NYSE:TGT - news), the No. 4 U.S. retailer, is expected to top analysts' consensus estimate for fourth-quarter profits of 59 cents a share, two Wall Street analysts said on Thursday.

``We continue to maintain our high-on-the-street fiscal year 2001 earnings per share estimate of 62 cents and expect the company's release to reflect actual results in this range pending final accounting for reserves and other positive margin adjustments,'' US Bancorp Piper Jaffray retail analyst Jeff Klinefelter wrote in a research note.

The analyst said his projections were based on Target Corp.'s adeptness at inventory management and its ``... commitment to managing its business conservatively during the Holiday season.''

Target is expected to report fourth-quarter earnings on March 6.

I'd still watch ICPT although it was less than remarkable today.
