The public schools are doing a great job. Bush was distorting the facts when he accuses the schools of failing.
A good case in point is that none of the school children in Western Washington was injured during the earthquake because the schools had done such a good job of retrofitting the buildings to protect against earthquake damage. The people in the State of Washington think the teachers are doing a great job. They just voted in an initiative which gives them an automatic cost of living raise every year.
