John- I have been pointing out for a while now the ludicrous VIX readings of 30, 33 etc that were occurring while the Naz and SPX were making new lows. IMO we won't put in a bottom until we see the "true capitulation". Even then I don't think people realize how protracted true bears can be, and how long it might take to repair the technical damage. For example, could you post a superimposition of the Naz and the Nikkei from the bubble burst point.

My guess is that the Naz wil not hit 5200 again for at least 7 yrs and won't hit 4000 again for at least 3-5.
