What probably happened is that customers told oracle
they would buy before the end of the month. Oracle probably
thought they'd simply have a back-end loaded quarter.
Instead, customers backed out of earlier commitments to
produce the miss.

I think the fed is sending the message: nobody's going
to hold your hand if you buy stocks. The sooner investors
realize it, the better. That's not to say the
fed is not on our side (1% rate cuts in January are
pretty dramatic when it comes to the fed!)
As for the nasdaq lows we set recently, well, my opinion is
that you must be a little crazy to sell first rate
companies at such low valuations. After all, when stocks
are high, the only thing we hear is: I wish company XYZ
was trading at 1/2 it's value. Then I would buy! Look
around everybody: every good high tech stock's down 50 to
90%. If you can't buy now and hold for the long term,
you're not made to be an investor! That's my opinion.
