Remember investing is not a one month scenario. The facts are real. This company has zero debt, it will be laying off close to 20% of its' work force, it is cutting back employment, discretionary costs, product costs and savings in plant/property and equipment. All these are slated to save at least $250 million a year in costs.

Now if growth ceases for 3Com, especially in the emerging markets then what do you think will happen to the rest of the tech sector that have multiples that can only be justified with exponential growth. Wasn't the mantra for high multiples justified by growth, well we better see it or else Cisco, SunW, Orcl etc are all going to be trading in the single digits very soon.

I feel growth has slowed but it is far from coming to a halt. For the next generation of technology growth will unequivocally have to come from Wireless, Broadband (esp Optical Ethernet), VoIP, LAN Telephony etc and 3Com has carved a very impressive position in the lead pack of runners.
