I have known people who have the heart to care for dying babies, crack babies, but for someone who is seeking a typical/normal parenting experience, foreign adoption seems like a wonderful option for both kids and parents. Some of those older American children might well have been very desirable candidates for adoption at birth. Now scarred by years of of abuse, and institutionalization, they are a daunting challenge.

If it sounded as if I was accusing others of being racist for adopting out of country, well then I apologize.Someone else tossed out that word. I just mentioned my experience with a particular family. I could love a baby of any color, and I was offended by this couple who were able to justify returning a healthy bi-racial child, after taking him into their home long enough to presumably bond. Though the bio-mom shouldn't have tried to dupe them, I felt it described their capacity to love. They gave the baby back. I chose another family.

I still fear that by limiting access to abortion services and birth control, the reserve of less than perfect to horribly needy babies will pile up.
