i agree... japanese have lots of savings now and wont spend secondary to fear of job loss... in contrast americans have huge % of assets in stocks which have been wiped out and are in huge debt...i saw some stat that showed that a bunch of middle america only makes about a $1000 a year after it pays of its interest/loan/mortgage payments
