Women like to wear jewelry because it enhances their beauty and is a status symbol. Diamonds are pretty because they are the most sparkly stone, very shiny in the light, reflecting a rainbow. At formal occasions, a woman who doesn't wear jewelry looks plain unless she is young and beautiful. But jewelry isn't a good investment, especially not if you pay retail.
