My understanding of Agere spinoff is that while we will receive fewer shares in Agere, the extra proceeds to Lucent will retire Lucent debt and make our shares in Lucent more valuable. Am I right? It seems that however Lucent spins off Agere, the entire market value less the costs entailed, will go to LU stockholders. Where else could it go?
