I am asking you, politely and firmly, to respect the rules of this thread.
I believe I was. My message was not snide or arch; it was intended to point out, using the benefit of humor, the dangers, if not absurdities, in the Bush administration's proposal to fund faith based groups, hardly a position which I think should give offense here.
The rules of the thread have been stated as: This thread is a place for friendly exchanges between posters of more liberal political stances. It is not intended to be an open political forum, rather a watering hole and safe place for lefties of all degrees to exchange ideas, joke, rant, wring their hands, and flirt, preferably all at the same time. Nothing is off-topic here and personal attacks will be met with prompt censure or banning, as will inflammatory right wing posts.
My message was not unfriendly, was an exchange of ideas, and didn't attack anybody, personally or otherwise. It was certainly not an inflammatory right wing post by any reasonable stretch of the imagination. About all it was missing was the flirting.
OTOH, I think your calling me a conservative in print on this thread could be construed as a personal attack as well as making it feel a less than safe place for me, both violations of the rules of the thread. I am asking you, politely and firmly, not to do that again.
I don't personally approve of labels, since I have never found any person who fits neatly into any pre-ordained box, least of all myself, but if you feel a need to label me it would probably be most accurate to call me a 60s radical of classic liberal belief tempered by the experience of parenthood and the recognition of societal interdependence and responsibility.
I unequivocally claim to be a lefty of some degree, which makes this an appropriate place where I should be able to exchange posts under the rules of the thread free from unfriendliness or personal attacks. |
