It happened to me last fall. I have a TD Waterhouse IRA and they never explained why they locked my account. I made such a stink that they came back a week later and said "sorry, trade away".

TD Waterhouse never explained other than "you can't day trade in your IRA" which was crazy since they have been happily accepting my commissions for over two years. In fact, they just gave me NASDAQ, level II because of my trading activities. They shouldn't do this if they don't want you to trade in your IRA.

Thanks for the post. I now better understand what happened.
