Thurston, YOu should also rotate magazines periodically allowing the springs to rest for a time. Regardless of the caliber you want specialized bullets for protection. Typical hollow points or round nosed bullets often will not create sufficient hydrostatic shock to disrupt the central nervous system with a less than lethal hit. Although I have not grown doing stupid things, I have outgrown occasional personal protection services as I did when younger, single and dumber. Typically, I would be requested by somebody I knew to stay with a family for a short time when there was "danger".... At times I was in a situation where that bad guy was a blood relative. A few times, I was just in the wrong place at the very wrong time. Nothing feels worse, and you will never feel more stupid than the time you are in danger and decided to leave your weapon at home. Today, I won't go to the mall unarmed. Far too may suicidal ass holes out there just hoping to take somebody to the grave with them. The closest I came to death was from Carbon Monoxide. If I had the choice, I'd rather be shot. Recovery is much faster, assuming you live. SHootie
