Well, maybe not. There was the famous "bucking bridge" in Washington.

How did you get injured?
By stupidity. I bent over over (BAD MOVE!) to lift a 50-pund bag of sand. As I came up, I felt I felt a sharp pain in my lower back. I wasn't too bad at the time. I knew I had screwed up, but everything seemed (mostly) OK, so I just kept going.
When I woke the next day I couldn't walk.
I think I had some stupid doctors along the way too, because it wasn't until about 7 years later that it was discovered what had happened. One of the large muscles along the side of the spine had torn open and ripped halfway across. Now the injured area is scar tissue and will always be weak and will never be normal.
