chartman that is very true in "normal" market conditions we try to focus on a few stocks that have fallen hard and which we think are loaded with shorts frequently those have a late Friday run for the reasons you listed plus daytraders covering before the weekend a lot of shorts prefer not to take the risk that some "news" over the weekend will cause a Monday gap up open the early run Friday changed that equation
