Dan, 110 out of 266 pages are P4's. Which would seem to indicate that 41% of returned systems are P4s. Has Dell indicated what percentage of their sales during the past few months have been P4/Rambus? I've ordered 2 refurbed systems from Dell in the last 9 months or so. Before ordering my first one, I asked them about what "refurb" meant. They told me that 80%+ of the systems are cancelled orders -- they're new systems, but the order was cancelled. They said it's more cost-effective to knock a couple hundred bucks off the price and get them off the floor rather than take them apart (which then has "legal" implications) or have them sit around hoping that someone would order the exact same configuration. I'd guess that the unusually high number of 8100's means that, just as corporations are putting on hold their high-priced MIS efforts, they're probably cutting back on buying the higher end PCs right now and going with lower-end models. Hence, Dell is probably facing an unusual number of cancelled orders for the high-end stuff. In fact, 1000 systems may have been a single cancelled order (though probably not). Dave
